Dear Dana:
Joining your gym has been the best thing I have done for myself in
years. I noticed the increase in my energy level by the end of the
first week.
My body firmed up within the first month, and the inches were
redistributed in a more flattering way. My upper body strength has
increased. I first noticed this in that every day chores – like
lifting heavy things or taking down my shower curtain became so
much easier to do.
I feel much better. I sleep much better. And I am more relaxed.
And without a doubt much healthier.
Thank you for working out such a good program for me. I would
recommend your gym to anyone who wanted to feel and look better
and be more productive. And consequently happier.

To Whom It May Concern:
Dana Melvin’s “Total Fitness” came into my life on February 28,
1995. Until that time, my dress size had increased by three sizes
and my energy level was low which affected all areas of my life.
Most of all I was not feeling very good about myself. The “not
feeling good about myself” was critical because I facilitate self
awareness, healthy self esteem workshops and support groups.
Needless to say, I could not continue to teach people about
something that I, too, struggled with on a daily basis.
A few months ago a coworker encouraged me to attend “Total
Fitness.” It took a little motivating on her part (because I was
too busy feeling sorry for myself), but since February 28th, I
have lost 3 inches from my midriff, 3 ½ inches from waist, ¼
inches from my thighs and bustline. My dress size has decreased by
almost two sizes. Everything has toned up, my energy level has
increased dramatically and I sleep so much better. The most
positive thing about this whole experience has been the wonderful
effect it has had on my family. My experience has motivated my
husband to eat better and to exercise. My children chastise me
when I even look like I might get crazy with the food.
I would also like to add that Dana’s positive and encouraging
personality has made this one of the best experiences of my life.
He changes me and always wants my very best effort. Through it
all, he constantly reminds me what a great job I do during the
workout sessions. His approach to good health and fitness is
priceless. I sometimes feel that he gave me back my life.
One thing is for sure, from now on I am going to always strive for
“Total Fitness.” As a good friend of mine always says, “have a
positive thought and a great day.”

Dear Dana,
I want to thank you for this “body” created by you that just
returned from Florida looking tanned and fit. I still can’t
believe the transformation. For the first time in my life, I was
trying on swimsuits without little skirts, and I could even use a
beach towel for what it was intended for-not to make a moo-moo out
of it. This year, I raced to the dressing room with anticipation
and excitement instead of dread and trepidation. As I looked in
the mirror and liked what I saw, I kept repeating to myself the
same mantra that I have been repeating for the last six months:
“thank you, Dana!”… “thank you, Dana!”
Its hard to believe that I’m the same person who started with you
so out of shape that couldn’t ride bike for more than eight
minutes without thinking if 911 could make it to your house in
time. I had never exercised in my life and had never planned to,
but you took me on anyway. I guess you want3ed the challenge (and
the money). Whatever the case, you cajoled, teased, encouraged and
worked me through the initial stages of pain, and to my surprise,
I keep coming back. Not only were the sessions fun, but I enjoyed
the camaraderie that developed with your other clients. As a
bonus, I started seeing results almost immediately. I don’t know
what I expected when I made my first appointment, but I sure
didn’t expect to still be exercising one year later. People who
have known me for years can’t believe the transformation. Not only
do I look better, I feel great. My health has even improved; this
is the first year that I have not had the flu or cold.
However, from working with you, I have gained a lot more than firm
thighs and a trim waist. Your positive attitude and enthusiasm are
contagious. Thank God!
You know the difficulties that I have confronted this year and
continue to endure, yet each step of the way, you were there
giving me the tools—friendship, confidence, suggestions and
techniques I needed to overcome.
Thank you again for sticking with me through the rough times, the
whining, the bitching and the moodiness. I think of you as a gift
from God. When I was truly in need of guidance and support, you
were always ready with appositive thought and an encouraging
presence.

Rayna Harper
As a young college students, who gained more than just the
freshman fifteen in subsequent years, Dana Melvin has taught me a
new way of life. His ‘living good, feeling good’ programs,
designed especially for me, showed me how to exercise, eat well,
and feel good.
Prior to my involvement with Mr. Melvin, I did not exercise on a
regular basis. However, once I began a training program with him,
I now find myself anticipating the days I am scheduled to
exercise. (There are even times when I opt not to exercise if Dana
is not available). His amiable presence and supportive attitude
are not only encouraging but enjoyable.
As previously stated, the program designed by Mr. Melvin is not
simply exercise. He teaches and stresses the importance of eating
right and exercising for healthy living. Mr. Melvin truly
exemplifies his motto: “Total Fitness.”
In the past, I did not see the importance of exercising. I did
gain weight but I figured, like many other Americans, that I would
simply diet and shed the unsightly pounds. Dana Melvin has
enlightened me and gave program that I will hopefully use for the
rest of my life. “Now, I’m a Believer.”

This letter certifies my total satisfaction with the services of
Mr. Dana Melvin, owner of “Total Fitness” in Laurel, Maryland. Mr.
Melvin is a professional of the highest caliber.
I recently decided to incorporate weight training in my exercise
program and I thought using a personal at “Total Fitness” to
discuss my goals, and I was immediately impressed with Dana. He is
professional and friendly. He has expert knowledge about the body,
how it function and how to improve it, inside and out. His program
includes the importance of maintaining a healthy diet. Clients
also keep a record of what they eat everyday. Dana is a trainer
with high expectations yet the patience to allow clients to
improve at their own pace.
Dana’s exercise room is comfortable with certificates of his
personal achievements and pictures of satisfied customers on the
walls. Posters with inspirational messages are placed throughout
the room which give clients that extra boost whenever the workout
seems too difficult.
Melvin, I’m back on track with my exercise program.
